Smallbore rifle shooting is fired indoors in the winter and outdoors during the summer with 22 caliber rifles using either metallic or telescopic sights.

Indoor competition is shot at 50 feet shooting from the prone, sitting, kneeling, and standing position. All four are used in our position events which usually use the NRA A-17 target. Three position events mirror international competition, prone, kneeling, and standing, on the NRA/USAS 50 target. Indoor shooting begins in the late fall and runs through early spring with the NRA Sectional of the National Indoor Smallbore Championship being the capstone event.

Outdoor competition is fired at 50 yards, 50 meters, and 100 yards. Three position competition is shot at 50 meters. Prone competition is fired at 50 yards, 50 meters, and 100 yards. Outdoor competition starts in the late spring and is geared toward preparing for the NRA National Smallbore Rifle Championships held in late July.
