THIS IS A BAD BILL!

Relating to Criminal Offenses-Weapons

This bill changes 11-47-2 definitions of detachable magazines, fixed magazines and high capacity magazines. It also changes 11-47-64 to make it illegal for any person, corporation or other entity in this state to manufacture, import, possess, purchase, sell or transfer any high capacity magazine and any person violating this section shall upon conviction be subject to imprisonment to up to 10 years. You will have 120 days from the passing of this bill to remove the high capacity magazine from the state, sell the capacity magazine to a licensed firearm dealer or surrender the high capacity magazine for destruction to an appropriate law enforcement agency. This act would criminalize the manufacture, import, possession, purchase, sale or transfer of any ammunition, feeding device capable of accepting more than 10 rounds. This act would take effect upon passage without any notification.

This bill, if passed, would change 11-47-60, Possession of firearms on school grounds and make it illegal for all those other than peace officers as defined in 22-7-21, to have in their possession any firearm or other weapons on school grounds. Persons with chief of police permits under 11-47-11 and attorney general permits under the 11-47-18, who are not peace officers, would no longer be allowed any firearm or weapon on school grounds if this bill passes.

THIS IS A BAD BILL!

This bill makes a misdemeanor conviction grounds to prohibit purchasing, owning, carrying, transporting or having in his or her possession any firearm which formally was by felony conviction only. Also there aren't any provisions provided for the owner of said firearms to transfer them to a temporary safe haven.
